On Saturday night Arthur Abraham will face-off against the hard hitting Carl Froch.
Abraham’s fight plan will be based on defense, patience and timing his overly aggressive opponent.
Carl is very tough, throws powerful punches and loves to impose his will. But, he leaves his hands low and is very open to being countered.
Abraham isn’t a heavy volume puncher. He keeps his hands high in the turtle position and counters with crisp, powerful and very precise shots.
Here is a detailed account of what the bout should look like:
Arthur should come out with his hands in the turtle position, work off the jab and be patient. Carl is going to attack Abraham’s body because he keeps his hands so high. This will leave some great opportunities for counter punching. Also, Froch keeps his left hand down at his waist and the best way to exploit this is with a straight right hand.
Combination punching examples:
1). When Froch throws a jab to the body Arthur should immediately counter with a straight right hand, left hook, straight right hand again, then circle to his right away from the power hand.
2). Jab to the body, straight right hand (Remember the Brit always keeps his left hand low), left hook to the body and circle out to the right again.
3). Counter Carl’s left hook to the body with a hard right hook to the head, then throw 2 jabs and circle out to the left. Then keep circling until there is enough room to reset and get back into position.
4). Lead right hand, left uppercut, duck head and pivot to the right and then fire a straight right hand and finish with a left hook to the body.
5). Feint the jab, left hook and finish with a powerful overhand right.
